|Keynote presentation – Challenges in the food and drink industry
Adam Leyland, The Grocer.
|Competition and Antitrust – recent developments
Food and drink companies are under increasing scrutiny from competition authorities, at both a national and European level. This session will contain an update of the key recent competition law cases and policy developments within the EU and UK, with a particular focus on the food and drink sector.
|Food Fraud – a lively panel discussion
Since the horsemeat scandal in 2012 consumers are demanding greater transparency of food sourcing and production. Our panel will discuss food fraud and review the recommendations outlined by Professor Elliott in his recent final report. The panel will include Eversheds’ Head of Regulatory Team, David Young, who participated in the initial consultations with Professor Elliott.
|Measuring the value of in-house legal teams – a practical session
General Counsel need to react to many different legal demands on a daily basis and at a time when many organisations are demanding more from their in-house legal function, the need to understand the demands placed on your team is vital. This session will review how you can measure and demonstrate the value your team is delivering to your organisation.
|Emerging markets – a focus on Africa
Many food and drink companies are looking further afield for opportunities to expand their business. Recent studies have identified Africa as one of the top emerging markets for FMCGs to target. Our experts will discuss the opportunities available for food and drink businesses in Africa and key considerations when taking a step in to Africa.
|The future of technology – 3D manufacturing
3D manufacturing is starting to be implemented by leading global industries, and this new wave of manufacturing is only set to increase. Our experts will review what 3D manufacturing means for the food and drink industry, what challenges these new production processes may bring and outline the implications for businesses.
|Employment law – recent updates
As one of the largest employers in the UK, the food and drink industry continues to be heavily impacted by changes to employment law. This session will focus on three of the largest issues: Holiday Pay, Equal Pay and Shared Parental Leave. We will look at what the issues mean for your business and the challenges you may face.
