Gayle McFarlane comments about the Information Commissioner's Office’s (ICO) publication on the future of international transfers of personal data from the UK:

“The documents issued by the ICO for consultation – a transfer risk assessment (TRA) and international data transfer agreement (IDTA) - are targeted at SMEs and set out the detail that organisations need to properly protect international transfers. International businesses may be happy that the option of using the EU SCCs with a UK addendum is included. However, our article and podcast illustrate why you shouldn’t just stick with what you know - the combined package of the TRA tool and IDTA could be an efficient compliance user manual during the life of a transfer.”
