Paul Moorcroft comments on retail trends in China:

"The special report on retail in this week's Economist flags a couple of interesting new trends emerging in China; 1) a so called "C2M" trend where the platforms are using customer data to identify unmet customer needs, and then plugging that gap by going directly to manufacturers to create the products they identify consumers as wanting and 2) the concept of "community group buy" - tapping into previously unreachable parts of the market (generally poorer and more remote) by allowing groups to club together to buy (which presumably requires only one internet savvy and connected punter)".
